The start of pre-season training for the 2013 season, combined with the first training session for new Senior Coach Mick Malthouse, drew a big crowd to Visy Park today.

A crowd in excess of 1,200 was on hand to see the Carlton players return to training after their end-of-season break and see Mick Malthouse and other new coaches Rob Wiley and Brad Green step out for the first time at Carlton.

The players spent the morning inside with testing and physiotherapy commitments before hitting the track mid-afternoon for a brief session on the ground. Nearly all the players were involved in this first session with only a few players still recovering from post season surgery, not involved.

Supporters were delighted to see so many players involved in the session, particularly after last year when a number of players were unavailable to train with the main group until after Christmas.

The Carlton Shop and Carlton Café were kept very busy with a stream of people coming through the doors from early afternoon and the free sausage sizzle was very popular with all supporters.

It may be the first week in November but if the atmosphere at today’s training session is anything to go by it promises to be an exciting year ahead for Carlton and the right time to be a Carlton Member.
