Blues open 2012 against Richmond
Carlton will play traditional rivals Richmond, Collingwood and Essendon in the first month of the 2012 AFL season.
The Blues will be involved in the first match in Melbourne for 2012 against Richmond at the MCG on Thursday March 29th and will travel to Brisbane for round two against the Lions at the Gabba on the Thursday night prior to Easter.
Carlton’s first home game of the season will be a traditional blockbuster against Collingwood at the MCG in round three, on Friday April 13, followed by another blockbuster home game against Essendon at the MCG in round four.
Carlton CEO Greg Swann said the Club was looking forward to the 2012 season and was pleased that Carlton will be involved in 15 matches to be broadcast prime-time during the season.
“We are looking forward to 2012 and while we start with two away matches, home games against Collingwood and Essendon in rounds three and four will be great for our members in Victoria,” Swann said.
Once again Carlton will travel interstate on five occasions in 2012; to Brisbane in round two, twice to Perth, in rounds five against Fremantle and 12 against West Coast, against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium in round ten and the Blues will play the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium in round 22.
Carlton will play Collingwood, Essendon, Brisbane, Richmond and St Kilda twice in 2012.
