THERE was a clash of codes at Princes Park on Wednesday, but it was all in good fun as a few Carlton players joined members of the visiting Juventus squad for a light-hearted kick and a catch.

The soccer superpower has been using the Blues’ training facility as a base during their brief Asian tour pit-stop, with the groups coming together for a brief taste of the differing skills involved in their respective sports.

Raffaele Palladino, Cristiano Zanetti and Australian-born goalkeeper Jess Van Stratten enjoyed a quick skills session with group of Blues including Brendan Fevola, Nick Stevens and Marc Murphy before the round ball came out for a few shots on goal.

"It was a bit of fun, I think Fevy was struggling a little bit, but it was fun to have a kick with the Juventus guys for sure," Murphy said.

"They went pretty well with the footies; they picked it up pretty quick. Their handballing skills were alright considering they weren’t used to it."

While the visitors seemed to enjoy the change of pace, Murphy was confident none of them would be putting their hands up for a re-location from Italy.

"We’ll see how they go, give them a few more skills sessions," he said.

"But they’re probably on big pay packets over there so I don’t know if they’d want to come over here and start out on 50 grand a year."

Originally from Sydney, Van Stratten had little experience in AFL before heading off overseas to ply his trade.

"I’ve never actually done anything like that so it was fun," Van Stratten said.

"The boys have been watching the AFL a bit on the telly since we’ve been here and they’ve been asking me about the rules.

"The Carlton guys would be good defenders or goalkeepers, they’re all big boys, but it was a lot of fun."
