The spiritual home of the Blues hosted the launch of the JLT Community Series on Wednesday.
AFL General Manager Clubs and AFL Operations Travis Auld and JLT Australia and New Zealand CEO Leo Demer arrived at Ikon Park to launch the pre-season competition which kicks off tonight at Etihad Stadium.
The pre-season series takes football to regional and suburban areas across the country and gives all footy fans the chance to be in the thick of the action.
“The JLT Community Series allows us to schedule matches at venues that don’t normally host regular Toyota AFL Premiership matches, giving fans the opportunity to witness the best men’s players in action up close,” Auld said during the launch.
“It’s never more significant than the start of the year to acknowledge that the community is the lifeblood of our game, from grassroots football to the elite level, from the Australia Post AFL Community Camps to the NAB AFL Women’s Competition to the JLT Community Series.”

JLT is one of Australia’s leading specialty-focused providers of insurance related advice, brokerage and associated services.
In December 2016 it was announced that the AFL would partner with JLT for the pre-season competition over the next three years.
The JLT Community Series will see all 18 teams face three opposing clubs across a four-week stretch.
The Blues’ first pre-season hit-out will be against Melbourne on Saturday 25 February at Casey Fields from 2:05pm, with games against St Kilda (Ikon Park, 4 March) and Fremantle (Domain Stadium, 10 March) to follow.
