CARLTON coach Brett Ratten has left the door open for Melbourne ruckman Jeff White to continue his career at Princes Park.
White has the experience of 266 games under his belt and turns 32 at the start of next season, but appears unlikely to be offered a new contract by the Demons when his current deal expires in October.
Ratten admitted his youthful ruck contingent, led Matthew Kreuzer and Shaun Hampson, could benefit from having a more experienced body in the rotation.
"Jeff White? I think we'd have to go back and have a look," he said.
"We've got some young ruckmen who are coming through and might need another year or two to really develop and that might be one thing that's out there. We could have a look at Jeff, but we'll have to sit down and analyse where he's at.
"We've had a pretty good history of that [bringing in experienced big men], but nothing beats getting home grown talent and bringing them through yourself.
"We've got Hamspon and Kreuzer there who are going to grow into men, but we've got to be mindful that we can't ask young boys to do men's jobs week-in and week-out."
Brendan Fevola remains in the hunt to kick 100 goals this season, but Ratten did not rule out looking for an effective foil to his star spearhead in the trade pool.
"We'll sit down and have a look at what's floating around at trade time and see what we need as a group," he said.
"We'll analyse some statistics and have a look at other teams. A lot of teams really look at how the finals teams are going for the trends of the game.
"Have the big forwards gone out of it or is it just one big forward now or is it your 190cm type player who plays across half-forward like the Bulldogs have got?
"It's hard to tell, but we'll sit down and see what's on offer and see who's in the [pre-season] draft and go from there."
