The growth of the Carlton Football Club continued in 2010 with the Club announcing an operating profit of $2,264,444 for the financial year ending 31 October 2010.

“This is a very pleasing result and continues the growth of the Club, on and off the field, in recent years. This is the fourth year in a row the Club has announced an operating profit and is a positive sign of the confidence in the Carlton Football Club and a further endorsement of our growing position on and off the field,” said Carlton CEO Mr Greg Swann.

“This result adds to the optimistic outlook and is another positive forward step for Carlton in 2010. This year will also be remembered for one of the most significant events in the Club’s long history with the opening of the outstanding new facilities at Visy Park in February,” Swann added.

The total turnover to the end of October 2010 was $35 million, an increase of 2.6%, following on from the 6% increase achieved in 2009. Key revenue increases were made through gate receipts, fundraising and merchandise sales during 2010.

Swann said gate receipts during the 2010 season increased by 49%, fundraising by 22% and a new record was set in merchandise sales.

“Carlton supporters have been tremendous in the manner in which they have supported the Club in 2010. A new record in merchandise sales of over $1.6 million and an incredible 49% increase in gate receipts is a clear indication the supporters are behind the club and are pleased with the direction we are heading on and off the field.

“Our fundraising activity increased by over 22% and while not impacting directly on the financial result for the year, an indication of the growing support and attraction of the Carlton Football Club was reflected in the television audiences with Carlton having the second highest television ratings for the 22 home and away rounds.

“While it is pleasing to see the improving position of the Club in recent years there are still great challenges ahead and we are determined to work even closer with our supporters to ensure we create an even more successful Carlton Football Club.”

The 146th Annual General Meeting of the Carlton Football Club will be held at the MCG on Tuesday December 14th, at 6:00pm. All registered Members of the Club are welcome to attend the 2010 Annual General Meeting.
