Carlton Breaks Membership Record
The off-field growth of the Carlton Football Club continues with CEO Greg Swann announcing today that the club has 35,455 members in 2008. This eclipses the previous record membership of 35,431 set last year.
“A record membership is a tremendous result for the club and confirms the outstanding support that the Carlton Football Club receives from such a strong and committed supporter base.
“We are thrilled to have broken the record set last year. We are now looking to be the first Victorian Club to have a membership in excess of 40,000 in 2008. We know this is achievable and believe that with the commitment of supporters who have not yet joined in 2008, Carlton may be in a position to break the record membership for a Victorian Club of 41,128,” Swann said.
This record was set by Collingwood in 2004 and with 6,931 2007 members yet to renew for the 2008 season, the Blues certainly have the opportunity to break this all-time record.
“Carlton’s resurgence off the field since Richard Pratt become President has been incredible with a record membership for the second year in a row. In addition to the growth in membership our corporate support is up around 30% on 2007 and the merchandise sales have increased by over 15 % than for the same period last year,” Swann added.
At Princes Park tomorrow, Wednesday April 2nd, over 600 Captain Carlton Junior Members will participate in a special clinic with a number of Carlton players. The TeleChoice Junior Members clinic will be conducted between 11:00am and 12:30pm with the Carlton team to train at Princes Park at 2:30pm.
