Carlton has been handed a bumper 2011 Fixture, underpinned by 18 matches to be played in Melbourne.

“It’s a great result for our supporters, giving them the opportunity to see their team in the flesh at the MCG or Etihad Stadium 18 times during the home and away season,” Carlton CEO Greg Swann said.

Of further benefit, 17 matches involving Carlton are to be broadcast on free-to-air television, 11 of them in prime time.

As Swann said: “It is another positive reflection by the broadcasters on the development of the club in recent years that we have been granted prime time games”.

“We are once again excited to be part of the season opening match against Richmond and are privileged to play the Gold Coast in their first-ever AFL game.” Swann told carltonfc.com.au.

The Carlton players will take advantage of the bye in rounds 8 and 23 and will head interstate on four occasions - rounds 2, 6, 11 and 21.

"We are comfortable with where our byes have been allocated, and our four interstate matches are spread evenly throughout the season, with nine matches in a row in Melbourne during the middle of the season," Swann added.

Carlton has been delegated a split of eight day games and 13 night games in 2011, with the date and time of the club’s round 24 match against St Kilda at the MCG to be determined.

The Blues’ 11 home games in Melbourne will once again be split between the MCG (five games, nine in total) and Etihad Stadium (six games, nine in total).

On the TV front, the Carlton players will participate in nine games on Network Ten, eight on the Seven  Network and four on FOX Sports.

Carlton’s 2011 Memberships will go on sale in early November.
