THREE experienced Blues will be pushing for selection ahead of Carlton’s Round 12 clash with Brisbane on Saturday.
Kade Simpson, Mitch McGovern and Marc Murphy will all hit the track ahead of the weekend’s hit out to prove their fitness returning from respective injuries.
Director of High Performance Andrew Russell is hoping for returns in the near future for all three Blues.
It will be quick turnaround for McGovern and Simpson should they play, having only missed a week each.
McGovern left the ground late in the Blues Round 10 clash with St Kilda after rolling his ankle.
“Mitch missed last week with his ankle. He’s settled down really well,” Russell said.
“We just came off track and he trained really well. If he pulls up well, we think he’s a chance to play this week.”

It was more positive news for Carlton veteran Kade Simpson, also expected to make his return against the Lions after general soreness sidelined him last week.
“‘Simmo’ came out of the [St Kilda] game sore, so we decided not to play him,” he said.
“He’s settled down well, he trained today. We expect him to train fully and he’s a really strong chance at playing this week.”
Carlton could also receive a much-needed boost in experience with the return of Marc Murphy after two weeks out of action.
The veteran has missed the last two rounds after suffering fractured ribs during the Blues’ Round 9 defeat to the Giants.
Progressing well in his recovery, Russell was optimistic for an early return for the experienced midfielder.
“Murph’s ribs are settling down well. He trained today, he actually moved really well,” he said.
“He felt a little bit better than he thought he would. We’ll back him up Thursday and he’ll be a test to play this week."
