Carlton mixed up their pre-season training regime last weekend, switching footballs for paddle boards at St Kilda beach.
Testing out their balancing skills, the players spent time on the water in choppy conditions, learning how to paddle board.
Carlton player Dennis Armfield said it was great to incorporate some different activities into their pre-season schedule.
“We have some pretty big weeks on the track ahead of us, which can get repetitive so it is great to change locations and try something new,” he said.
The players rotated groups between paddle boarding, boxing, skills and cycling.
“The water was pretty chilly, which wasn’t ideal for the guys who were having trouble trying to balance and stay on the board,” he said.
After a break over the Christmas period all players are now back at VISY Park preparing for their first NAB Cup hit out in February.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding are pleased to offer a 25% discount off group lessons to all Carlton 2013 members until 31 March.
