The Carlton Football Club has no shortage of passionate supporters – members who would bleed Blue.

One of those members is Albert Morrison, who hasn't missed attending a Carlton game in Victoria since 1976 – that's a total of 38 seasons.

Mr. Morrison says it's all part of his commitment to the club he loves.

"The Blues are my priority and if this means missing out on other things, well so be it.

"For all those games, rain, hail or shine – I have to be there."

Having been a Carlton member since 1952, Mr. Morrison has seen it all.

He has particularly fond memories of the beginnings of the Carlton Social Club.

"It was around 1967. If you joined the Social Club, you instantly became members of both the Carlton Football Club and the Cricket Club.

"In those days, you socialised before the game, during the game and after the game."

Over the journey, Mr. Morrison has attended more than 700 Carlton matches – and it's not just the premiership wins that hold a special place.

One of the most memorable victories, he says, was in Round 2 of 1969 when Carlton played Hawthorn. As Mr. Morrison recalls, the Blues went on a scoring frenzy, thrashing the Hawks by 128 points.

"When we kicked 30 against Hawthorn, it was the highest scoring game at the particular time.

"If my memory serves me right, we had kicked eighteen goals by three-quarter time, and then we kicked another twelve-goals-ten in the last quarter."

Another game he remembers well, was when the Blues played Collingwood, in the same year.

Mr. Morrison says the match was quite brutal, with half a dozen or so players reported.

However, when the reports were brought to the tribunal, they were all rejected due to a technicality.

"That technicality was that the team sheet was lodged by the umpire five minutes too late.

"In those days reports were submitted manually, and it was the responsibility of the umpire to hand them in on time."

While Morrison believes that Carlton has produced a talented pool of players over its 149-year history, he rates John Nicholls as one of the greatest.

"He would be by far the most influential and best player that Carlton has ever seen.

"They called him The General because he dominated, and his presence on the ground was far greater that anyone I have ever seen."

Mr. Morrison also holds Alex Jesaulenko and methodic half-back flanker Bruce Doull among his favourites.

As for Carlton's current playing list, Mr. Morrison says it's full of talented players who are only going to improve.

"Young Murphy has been a good captain for the Club. He's had a very good career to date, and I believe he will only get better.

"I am also impressed with young Zach Tuohy on the back-line. He will sacrifice for the sake of the team – and that's a fantastic trait to have."
