IF Carlton is going to resurrect previous Easter Sunday form against the Western Bulldogs, it’s going to have to make an impact in the middle.
The Blues return to Marvel Stadium this weekend to take on the Dogs, looking for their first win over the opposition since Easter Sunday of 2014.
The heavyweight battle in the clinches is undeniably going to take centre stage, with captain Patrick Cripps to renew acquaintances with Marcus Bontempelli.

The midfield guns have been two of the standout players in the competition so far this season. Cripps currently leads the competition for clearances and contested possessions, while Bontempelli’s ability to drive his team forward has been key behind his side’s solid form to begin 2019.
The Dogs and Blues are an interesting match-up, with both teams displaying contrasting strengths so far this campaign.
Sunday’s hosts currently lead the AFL for inside 50 entries, while the Blues are second in the competition for rebound 50s — largely thanks to the work of Liam Jones and Jacob Weitering.
