Whilst it was a magnificent start for the Blues, Andrew Carrazzo confesses that the rest of the game was a disaster.
"It seemed like we had all the momentum. Then their last three goals in the first quarter really took it away from us. We got annihilated around the ball."
During the lead-up to the match, the Carlton Vice-Captain said that preparation had been positive.
"There was definitely an excitement coming into the game. All the boys felt good. It was really disappointing that we dropped off so dramatically."
Having played his first senior game of footy in eight weeks, Carrazzo says that returning to the game is always an adjustment.
"There is a lot to take in with thinking about different tactics and trying to to my job for the team. But it's something that I was able to back myself to do."
Looking ahead to their next game against St Kilda, Carrazzo says that it's important for the Blues to move forward and re-focus.
"You can't change the past. It's disappointing with some of the losses that we've had. But in saying that, our future is in our hands."
"If we want to seriously contend in September, we have got to turn losses like we've had in the past three weeks, into wins. I hope that today's an aberration and i'm pretty confident that we have got the group that can do that."
