New Blue Liam Jones has successfully completed his first week of training at Visy Park.
The 23-year-old former Western Bulldogs player says the transition has so far been effortless – particularly with the assistance of his new teammates.
"Sam Rowe has been really good for me – he has taken some time out when I've asked him questions,” Jones said.
"Dylan Buckley's been really good and quite funny as well. All the guys have been really welcoming."
The Tasmanian-born forward who was acquired by the Blues with a few minutes remaining of the trade period, says choosing Carlton was an easy decision.
"I could see myself in the forward line with Lachie (Henderson) and Levi (Casboult)," Jones said.
"And seeing a lot of the younger players coming through like Menzel, I could just really see a spot there for me.
"I know that Levi is a really good player and I know the way that he plays and the way that Lachie Henderson plays, and I think that we could play really well together."
The veteran of 66 AFL games cites his on-field strengths as both "contested marking" and "speed" says Carlton's senior coach played a pivotal part in his arrival at Visy Park.
“Mick's been great,” Jones said.
"He was very specific with how he saw me playing and fitting into the side and I really appreciated that.
"Everyone told me that he's very honest and that's a good thing to have in a coach.
"I'm looking forward to working with him – so far he's been very encouraging."
