There was a wave of excitement around Visy Park as Carlton's senior list began day one of preseason training.
Aptly described by Carlton skipper Marc Murphy as being "like the first day back at school", there was a mix of new and familiar faces on the track on Monday.
Carlton's director of development and coaching Rob Wiley says the players are focused on the hard work that awaits them.
"It was the first day back for the seniors, who joined our first to fourth year players who've been training for the past 10 days,” Wiley said.
"We had them take part in various skills sessions around the ground, as well as running drills.
"It's always great to come back enthused, fresh and excited. We've just got to be competitive on the training track, and we've got to set ourselves high standards for next year."
It was added excitement for Blues' big-man Matthew Kreuzer, who is looking forward to the 2015 season, after undergoing foot surgery earlier this year.
Wiley says the Carlton ruckman can't contain his enthusiasm.
"Matty Kreuzer looks really good," Wiley said.
"He is running around like a boy in a lolly shop – he's thrilled to be back.
"It was great to have him on the track, and I'm sure that things will be bigger and better for him next year."
