The first deal of the NAB AFL Trade Period has been completed, with Hawthorn securing former Giant Jono O’Rourke. It comes as the trade period enters its fourth day, with the Blues yet to make their first move.

Here’s a wrap up of what’s being said about Carlton today:

Bulldogs key forward Liam Jones might not get to Carlton, with The Age reporting the Blues would prefer Greater Western Sydney youngster Kristian Jaksch as a long-term replacement for Jarrad Waite.

The Age also reports that a speculated deal that would involve Jones, Brownlow medallist Adam Cooney and pick 45 going to Carlton in exchange for the Blues' pick 28 has no chance of being realised.

ESSENDON is trying to lure Carlton-bound swingman Kristian Jaksch to their club despite his determination to get to Visy Park.

The 19-year-old Greater Western Sydney key position player’s first preference is to get to the Blues ahead of St Kilda, but the Dons are determined to muscle into the trade.

Q: Speaking of future direction, what is the message for the 2015 season?

CEO Steven Trigg: We have a three-year plan, not a year-by-year plan. It will centre on a sense of belonging to the one club. There is a requirement for that. We should look at the premiers Hawthorn, the way they conducted themselves — no beers on the ground, forget the sunglasses and all that s---, what oozed out was a united one-club mentality. That’s the path we have to go down. Port have pulled it together really quickly from the fan engagement and match-day activity.
