Most people would agree that children can never have enough books.

We're collecting books for primary school aged children who live in Carlton's High Rise Estates.

This week Carlton players took time out from training schedule to encourage donations and to share what they enjoyed reading when they were younger.

Patrick Cripps said he has fond memories of his dad reading to him as a child.

"One of my favourites (books) was Captain Abdul's Pirate School," said Cripps.

"The reason for that was my Dad used to read it to me before I went to bed and he would mix up the words to make it funny. I used to get a good laugh out of that before I went to sleep."

Meanwhile Cameron Wood revealed the Goosebumps and Tomorrow When the War Began series were his favourites.

"As a kid growing up I used to read a lot of Goosebumps books in primary school," Wood said.

"And as I got older into high school I used to read the series by John Marsden called Tomorrow When the War Began."

Meanwhile Andrew Carrazzo, father of two-year-old triplets, urged Carlton supporters to get behind the book drive.

"We implore you to come down and donate your books to help these families improve their reading and writing," said Carrazzo.

"I love reading to my girls at home and I love all the Dr Zeus books."

If you have unwanted children's books that are still in good condition please donate them by placing them in the bookcase near reception at Visy Park.
