Family friendly timeslots, blockbuster games and a trip across the Tasman feature in Carlton’s draw for 2015.

The AFL has today unveiled the home-and-away fixture for next season, which delivers on the key outcomes the Blues had been seeking.

Highlights of Carlton’s 2015 season include:

  • The return of the traditional season opener between Carlton and Richmond on Easter Thursday at the MCG
  • Carlton to host Collingwood on a Friday night at the MCG to mark Mick Malthouse’s record-breaking match for the most games as senior coach
  • An ANZAC Day clash with St Kilda in Wellington
  • Six homes games at the MCG and five at Etihad Stadium
  • No back-to-back interstate travel
  • Family friendly timeslots with six Saturday afternoon games, three Sunday afternoon games, and one Saturday twilight game

Carlton CEO Steven Trigg has welcomed the outcome and thanked the AFL for listening to the Club’s priorities.

“This fixture is a great result for our team and we believe the AFL has struck the right balance of big games and supporter friendly timeslots,” Trigg said.

“Clearly we had concerns on the back of this year, particularly with regard to the number of Sunday and Monday night games, which ultimately impacted our attendances.

“The AFL has addressed those concerns and delivered on our request for more family friendly scheduling, with ten matches on weekend afternoons and six Friday night games.

“Having a marquee game in New Zealand on ANZAC Day will be very special for our football club, while there’s no better place than on the big stage on a Friday night against Collingwood to celebrate Mick’s record achievement.

“The Blues will look forward to 2015 with great enthusiasm.”

Carlton will commence its 2015 campaign on Thursday 2 April against Richmond at the MCG.
