Carlton ruckman Cameron Wood says the Blues are looking forward to playing at Adelaide Oval on Friday night, when they go head-to-head with Port Adelaide.
This will be the first time that Carlton will set foot on the well-known cricket ground since its refurbishment was completed earlier this year.
The South-Australian raised Wood says he’s looking forward to playing in front of his home crowd.
“I think most of the boys are pretty excited,” Wood said.
“We’ve already spoken about how good Adelaide Oval looks. I grew up in Adelaide so I’m pretty excited to get back over there and check it out.
“We played in Perth a couple of weeks ago. It was a pretty hostile environment over there, so I’m sure it’s going to be similar.”
Wood says that while Carlton will not be fighting for a spot in the finals this season, that won’t effect their efforts on Friday night.
“I guess realistically they do probably have more to lose,” Wood said.
“But we’ve had some momentum in the last couple of weeks, so we don’t want to give that up.
“We’re probably on different pages. In two weeks they’ll be playing finals and we won’t be. But in terms of more to lose – well we definitely want to win."
