The Carlton Football Club would like to wish all mums a very Happy Mother’s Day – we hope you’re doing something special.
To mark the day this year we caught up with some of our players to find out what makes their mum special, and what they’ll be doing to celebrate.

Mum’s name: Vonnie
The best thing about Mum is her honesty – she’s honest in a kind and caring way. We won’t be doing too much for Mother’s Day because it’s the day before our game, but I’ll send Mum a card and some flowers.

Mum’s name: Marie
I’ve always had support for everything I wanted to do and was never left needing anything as a kid. Mum’s probably been as big an influence on my life as anyone – both Mum and my father – I’m very luck to have them.
I’ll call Mum on Sunday and wish her a happy Australian Mother’s Day, because I don’t think it’s on the same day back home in Ireland.
Mitch Robinson
Partner’s name: Emma (mum to baby Chance)
Motherhood and being parents is very new to us, but Em has been sensational. I’m taking her to get a full body massage, pedicure and manicure, to give her some time off her feet and away from baby duties.
Chris Yarran
Mum’s name: Deborah
Mum’s very polite, very approachable and very caring. I’ll send her a bunch of flowers and give her a call as she’s back home in Perth.
Dylan Buckley
Mum’s name: Debra
Mum means everything to me. She has always been good to me, driven me everywhere, and put us in front of herself. She’s very selfless.
I’ve bought Mum heaps of Nike gear and I’ll be taking her out for lunch.
Levi Casboult
Mum’s name: Jodie
The best thing about Mum is her unwavering support – it doesn’t matter if I’m playing good or bad, or how good a mood I’m in, she’s always there for me. I’ve sent Mum a card because she’s over in Tassie and I’ll give her a call.

Mum’s got the best organisation skills and over the years she’s had to be really onto me about organising myself! She has a loving, caring nature, and she was always on my team. Going through school when I was in a bit of trouble, she would always stick up for me – she’s just a fantastic Mum.
The weekend Mum’s down from Brisbane to visit her grandson so we’ll go out for a big family lunch on Mother’s Day.
Simon White
Mum’s name: Lee
She’s a bit of a character Lethal, she’s quite funny and she keeps me laughing. She’s always got a few stories and is always entertaining.
Mum’s in Perth so I’ll give her a call and I’ll arrange with my sister to get a present, which happens every year. I’ll be back in Perth over the bye so we’ll do something then.
