Carlton’s Mitch Robinson has expressed remorse, with the 25-year-old admitting he’s embarrassed by his actions after being suspended for two matches.

Robinson had been due to notch up his 100th AFL game in Sunday’s clash with St Kilda.

Instead he will have to wait until Round 18 to reach the milestone, after being suspended for striking Collingwood’s Taylor Adams.

Speaking on the Carlton Podcast, Robinson said he regretted his actions.

"Obviously the season's not about personal efforts and that kind of stuff. If you get 100 you get 100; it’s an amazing effort for yourself and you probably reflect on it when you reflect on your career,” Robinson said of his impending milestone.

“Yesterday when I was reading the internet, and I found out I couldn’t do anything about my two match suspension, it kind of hit home a little bit.

"I didn’t come close to tearing up – but it hurt me – I felt embarrassed and I felt like I actually did let my teammates down."

Robinson has revealed he expects to pay penance on the training track with extra running exercises over the coming weeks.
