Carlton tagger Ed Curnow has been put to the test against endurance athlete John Van Wisse in the pool at Visy Park.
The challenge comes ahead of Van Wisse's attempt to break the world record in the Enduroman Arch to Arc Triathlon Challenge in London in August.
The world record for the challenge, which includes a swim across the English Channel, stands at 73 hours and 39 minutes.
Both athletes donned heart rate monitors and tested their strength in the pool, under the supervision of Carlton's aquatic coordinator Jason Patten.
After competing in a swimming challenge, Curnow and Van Wisse decided to see who could hold their breath under water for the longest.
Curnow surfaced within a minute, but Van Wisse held his breath for an incredible 2 minutes and 20 seconds, admitting when he surfaced that he possibly could have stayed under for longer.
