A NAVY Blue hero - and the game itself - is back.
After seven years, Eddie Betts will pull on the Carlton guernsey for the first time this Saturday against Melbourne.
The champion small forward is one of three inclusions to the Blues’ return to action at Marvel Stadium.
Having missed Round 1 with a calf injury, Betts will provide the energy and spark that only he can to the Carlton forward line.
He will be joined by another one of Carlton’s off-season acquisitions, with Marc Pittonet to make his Navy Blue debut.
The former Hawthorn ruckman will get his chance against Melbourne captain Max Gawn, having impressed the Carlton coaching staff with his physicality at training in the absence of Matthew Kreuzer.
Rounding out the inclusions is 2019 leading goalkicker Harry McKay, who has been touted as one of the Blues’ most impressive trainers during the recent layoff period.
Coming out of the team from the season opener 11 weeks ago are Kreuzer (foot), Zac Fisher (ankle) and Paddy Dow (omitted).
Saturday’s game will be broadcast on Fox Footy, with the first bounce to come at 4:35pm. Matthew Kennedy, Darcy Lang, Sam Philp and Tom Williamson have been named as emergencies.
