The Blues produced a mighty effort against the Swans at the SCG on Saturday, but ultimately fell just short of a famous victory.

Patrick Cripps
Career-high 13 tackles

Patrick Cripps produced a mighty defensive effort against the Swans, recording a career-high 13 tackles and game-high 33 pressure acts. The 21-year-old set the standard in the engine room, with his intensity and presence causing headaches for Sydney’s star-studded midfield.

Sam Docherty
Career-high 25 uncontested possessions 

On the tighter confines of the SCG, Sam Docherty was able to consistently find space to gather a career-high 25 uncontested possessions. The dashing defender seemed to be everywhere in the Blues’ defensive half, launching many of his side’s attacking forays. 

Bryce Gibbs
Game-high 3 assists

Bryce Gibbs was at his incisive best against the Swans, proving Carlton’s most damaging player. The No.4 recorded a game-high three goal/behind assists and eight inside 50s, as well as a team-high seven score involvements in a dominant performance. 

Kade Simpson
Game-high 9 rebound 50s

Kade Simpson was simply sensational yet again on Saturday. The inspirational veteran collected a team-high 34 disposals, but most impressively, a game-high nine rebound 50s. He was a cool head in defence, allowing the Blues to exit their defensive 50 and start a forward move time and time again. 

Ed Curnow
Career-high 2 goals 

A player not known for his goalscoring, Ed Curnow hit the Swans where it hurt most. Prior to Saturday’s clash, Curnow had never scored more than a goal in a game. The hard-running midfielder has clearly added an attacking bow to his game this season while keeping his defensive numbers high.
