OVERVIEW
2013 proved to be another frustrating season for Shaun Hampson, who played just six senior games, with his last being in the Round 7 loss to St Kilda.

Hampson suffered a mid-season knee injury in the VFL, which ruled him out for the year. It denied the 25-year-old the opportunity to deliver on the promise shown in his previous six seasons at Visy Park.

After 63 games in the navy blue, Hampson was traded to Richmond at the end of 2013 in exchange for a second round draft pick, now No.32 overall after compensation picks were allocated.

Hampson: Contested marks are my goal

HE SAID IT

"It's quite depressing when you’re playing some good footy and all of a sudden you've got to go through it all again – a few weeks of doing nothing, then a few weeks of doing just a little bit of exercise, and then you’re out of shape and you have to work yourself back into shape."

- Shaun Hampson, speaking in the pre-season about his injury-interrupted career

THEY SAID IT

“Shaun has been a much-liked and valued member of our team, who has a terrific work ethic.

“Although he hasn’t played in many senior games this season, he has continued to make a significant contribution to the Club behind the scenes.”

– Carlton’s GM-Football Operations Andrew McKay on Hampson’s departure

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

Hampson notched up a career-high 15 disposals in Round 4, in the Blues’ first win of the year against West Coast at Patersons Stadium. He was influential around the ground in the ruck contests, and showed he could match it with Eagles champion Dean Cox.
