The Carlton Football Club shares a long and storied history with the Richmond Football Club.

As two fierce inner city suburban rivals, battles have been fought, points have been won and lost, moments have been immortalised and always with bragging rights on the line.

On the evening of Thursday 29 March, a new chapter in this rivalry begins with the inaugural “March to the MCG” featuring supporters from both the Carlton Football Club and the Richmond Football Club.

Carlton President Stephen Kernahan said supporters of all ages were encouraged to “join the march.

“We are asking our supporters to arrive at Federation Square from 6:00pm to commence the “March to the MCG” at 6:20pm, walking in tandem with a number of former club greats and current players as a show of strength leading into the 2012 season,” he said.

Upon arriving at the MCG, the Carlton Supporters March will meet with the Richmond Supporters March whereby the official match ball will be presented to legends of both the Carlton Football Club and Richmond Football Club to walk into the ground.

Carlton giveaways will be happening throughout the “March to the MCG” so make sure you are there!
