OVERVIEW
In her most consistent season to date, Nat Plane was a staple in Carlton’s deadly defensive mix.
On the back of a strong VFLW season, Plane used her football smarts, clean possession and toughness to help the Blues control the play off the backline.
Ranked second in the team for metres gained, the 23-year-old was also able to use her speed and evasiveness to quickly and accurately allow Carlton to transition from defence to attack.
BEST PERFORMANCE:
The Blues made the trip to the City of Churches to take on the 2019 premiers in the Grand Final rematch.
It was a game arguably won on the backs of Carlton’s reliable defenders with Plane also playing a crucial role.
In a standout performance, Plane patrolled the half-back line with a clinical intent – collecting 18 disposals, taking five marks and also propelling the Blues forward with a team high 337 metres gained.
SEASON HIGHLIGHT:
Arguably, the entire season could be seen as a highlight for Plane.
It was the most consistent year for the inaugural Blue and the first time she was able to hold her spot in the team.
Her ability to do this is a testament to the hard work that Plane put in during the pre-season, as well as the 2019 VFLW season where she finished third in the best and fairest.
