OVERVIEW

After forcing her way into the starting line-up late in her debut year, it left Charlotte Wilson wanting more. She said it herself on the eve of the 2020 season.

“I’m willing to give everything. I want to be here so badly. I want to improve so badly.”

It’s clear that the youngster ticked off her 2020 goals.

In her second year, Wilson was one of the most improved players in the competition, performing a key role in Carlton’s formidable back line.

Learning off some of the competition’s best in Kerryn Harrington and Gab Pound, Wilson was a defensive rock for the Blues, missing just one game for the year through illness.

The impressive young defender locked down her spot and continued her impressive record in Navy Blue: Carlton has won nine of Wilson’s 11 games.

BEST PERFORMANCE:

Wilson’s best moment of her debut season was a run-down tackle in the 2019 Grand Final against Adelaide.

It was fitting that, in a vastly improved campaign, her best performance would come against the same opposition.

With 19 disposals and nine marks, Wilson played her role perfectly as the Blues performed a second half shutout of the reigning premiers.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT:

Wilson didn’t have to wait long to get the acclaim she deserved.

Her final month of the season was crucial to Carlton’s success, as she picked was nominated for the Rising Star award with an strong showing against St Kilda in Round 5.

With 12 disposals and eight marks, it was another example of Wilson’s ability to not only deny the opposition in front of goal, but also to intercept and be the first point of offence.

2020 was clearly a year to remember for Carlton’s No.20.
