OVERVIEW

Having missed just one game in four seasons of AFLW football, Brea Moody recaptured the form which saw her named a co-winner of Carlton’s 2018 best and fairest.

The impressive young ruck started her 2020 campaign with surety and performed her role with aplomb alongside Alison Downie.

Ranked third in the competition for hitouts, Moody was a constant presence in the air for the Blues, averaging a career-best for marks.

With Carlton’s deep midfield earning plaudits all season, a lot of the good work started with Moody at the source, finding her teammates with her ruck dominance and getting involved at ground level.

In terms of her possession rate and hitouts, she was ranked only behind All-Australian ruck Sharni Layton across the competition, highlighting her impressive season.

BEST PERFORMANCE

Moody’s strength in 2020 was her consistency: in every game this season, Carlton won the ruck battle.

Arguably her best performance came in the season opener against Richmond.

One of the most influential players in Carlton’s big win, Moody was named in the AFLW Team of the Week as well as collecting seven coaches’ votes.

Dominating at the centre bounce, Moody was pivotal as the Game Changers ran riot at Ikon Park, giving her teammates first-use and providing an aerial threat around the ground.

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

After a rough day in the 2019 Grand Final, Moody would’ve been hoping for a response in the return clash against Adelaide.

She delivered, just as her teammates did.

With 18 hitouts and a second half which saw the Game Changers storm home against the Crows, it was vindication for Moody and the Blues after a pre-season dwelling on the 2019 defeat.
