CARLTON has named some big names for its first Marsh Community Series clash with Fremantle.
In what will be the Blues’ first official hitout of 2020, the team will be led out by Sam Docherty, who was confirmed as a starter yesterday.
It will be Docherty’s first match in over two years: his last match was in the final round of 2017.
The co-captain will be joined in the side by Jack Martin, who will play his first game of any kind in the Navy Blue after his off-season acquisitions.
It will be a return to familiar territory for Martin, who will join fellow West Australian Zac Fisher in their home state.
Fellow new Blues Jack Newnes, Marc Pittonet and Sam Philp have also been included for the trip west, as has train-on player Callum Moore.
Having missed last week’s practice match against Collingwood, Matthew Kreuzer has been named after a recent minor operation on his heart.
Marc Murphy (managed) will not make the trip to WA, but will face the Brisbane Lions at Ikon Park next week. Eddie Betts and Patrick Cripps are also unavailable as they will line up for the All-Stars in tomorrow's State of Origin for Bushfire Relief.
The emergencies for the clash will be Josh Honey, Matthew Owies, Sam Ramsay and train-on player Ryan Sturgess.
Saturday’s Marsh Community Series game will begin at 4:10pm AWST (7:10pm AEDT).
