The Carlton Football Club is delighted to announce that the Blues faithful have raised $100,000 for victims affected by the devastating summer bushfires.
The Club created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for impacted communities and nearly 800 donations were received since the page was set up in January.
It is an incredible show of generosity by the entire Carlton family, including members, supporters, staff and playing groups.
Blues co-captain Patrick Cripps raised over $30,000 to the appeal via his generous donation of 100 playing guernseys and five memorabilia pieces.
Cripps and Eddie Betts will represent the All Stars in the AFL’s State of Origin for Bushfire Relief game this Friday night.
Fellow co-captain Sam Docherty, along with teammates Mitch McGovern, Nic Newman, Lochie O’Brien, Harrison Macreadie and Matthew Owies, all pitched in at Foodbank to pack hampers for impacted families.
Carlton’s AFLW side participated in raising much-needed funds, with star forward Tayla Harris raising $8,000 for bushfire victims by auctioning off a pair of her match-worn boots.
Carlton CEO Cain Liddle said the Club was blown away by the generosity and was proud to support such a worthwhile cause.
“It is truly humbling to see the Carlton community unite to help the many people affected by the summer bushfires,” Liddle said.
“The $100,000 raised and nearly 800 donations in total highlights our passion to get behind a worthy and important cause.
“I thank our players, members, supporters and anyone else who made a contribution to assist those impacted by the fires.
“We also thank the firefighters and emergency services, who put in tireless work to save people’s lives throughout this difficult time."
