TAYLA Harris has shown her support for Australians affected by the bushfires by raising over $8000 through an auction of her game-worn footy boots.
The boots were worn in a 2014 women's exhibition game between Melbourne and Western Bulldogs, with all proceeds going to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief program.
Harris’ boots signal a historical era for the women’s game, having featured in a series of exhibition games prior to the introduction of the AFLW competition.
“I’m proud that I was able to facilitate the auction,” Harris said.
“It’s an extremely generous amount to bid for.”
In true Harris fashion, she took her support a step further, encouraging those who missed out on bidding to donate directly to the Red Cross. She also initiated a watch collaboration which saw a portion of the sale proceeds also going to the Red Cross.
“Your donation is going to a worthy cause that has been so devastating in the last few months,” Harris said.
“Anything that I can do to help, I was going to do it.”
