THE Blues battled hard against the Pies on Sunday, but ultimately fell 17 points short at RAMS Arena.
Forward Georgia Gee played her first game for Carlton’s VFLW team this season after recovering from injury, while Sarah Hosking continued to rack up high tackle numbers.
VFLW senior coach Shannon McFerran assesses the performances of Carlton’s AFLW-listed players:
Georgia Gee
Stats: 14 disposals, 9 tackles
From the coach: Georgia had an impact in the first few seconds of the game, laying a brilliant tackle and really setting the tone. She continued to make an impact when attacking the football which was great to see. Limited game-time this week meant she spent some time through the midfield and up forward. Georgia will continue to build on her game as she eases back into the VFLW season after returning from injury.
Sarah Hosking
Stats: 13 disposals, 7 tackles
From the coach: Sarah again made a solid contribution to the game, as her work around the stoppages continues to improve each week. Spending some time forward, Sarah was able to help contribute around the forward line and make an impact at our forward stoppages. Sarah is continuing to develop as a footballer throughout the VFLW season – refining her football knowledge and skills.
Bridie Kennedy
Stats: 5 disposals, 3 kicks
From the coach: Bridie played a number of roles for us on game-day, including spending time in defence and attack. Throughout the remainder of the season Bridie will continue to work on her consistency, as well as improving the impact she has on games.
Tilly Lucas-Rodd
Stats: 13 disposals, 8 kicks
From the coach: Tilly has been a solid contributor throughout the season and once again she played her role in the centre. She has really improved her ball-use and disposal this year and continues to provide her teammates with an option moving the ball forward.
Nat Plane
Stats: 16 disposals, 9 kicks
From the coach: Nat performed well throughout Sunday’s game. She continues to build confidence in her ability around stoppages which is good to see. Her work around the ground was strong, but she had limited opportunity to run and carry the ball.
Gab Pound
Stats: 13 disposals, 10 kicks
From the coach: Gab spent the majority of the day down back, while also having a run through the midfield. She limited her opponent in defence and was able to hit targets and move the ball forward. Gab will continue to run through the midfield over the next few weeks.
