CARLTON'S VFLW side returned to winning form with a 29-point win over Williamstown at Ikon Park on Sunday.
It was a comprehensive win for the Blues, leading from start to finish to run out 8.4 (52) to 3.5 (23) winners.
A four-goal haul for the returning Darcy Vescio was the catalyst for Carlton’s third win of the season, and the first since Round 2.
Vescio kicked the first of the game with a stunning solo effort, tight-roping the boundary line before dribbling home with her left foot.
The game was marked by Carlton’s ability to surge the ball out of the middle and lock the ball in its forward half.
Katelyn Cox proved to be a valuable second option in the forward line, kicking two first-half goals.
Despite being held goalless in the third quarter, Carlton was able to run out with a comfortable win after the opening two majors of the final term.
It was the third time this VFLW season that the Blues were able to register eight goals for the match: all three have resulted in wins.
Pleasingly for Shannon McFerran’s side, the Blues were able to build off their fast start unlike a fortnight ago, showing a maturity and determination to completely shut out the Seagulls.
Carlton’s team defence restricted Williamstown to just three goals for the game, defending to the last as the Seagulls pushed for some late consolation.
The Blues will host the ladder-leading Collingwood next Sunday at RAMS Arena (Craigieburn) from 12pm.
