Though Carlton was outclassed by a red-hot Adelaide at the MCG on Sunday, several Blues made significant contributions on the stats sheet.
Carlton Media picks its top-five most influential player stats from Round 16:
Zach Tuohy
Game–high 606m gained
Zach Tuohy produced one of his best performances in the navy blue, recording career-highs in kicks (21) and rebound-50s (eight). The Irishman’s game-high 606m gained indicated his ability to find space and break the lines from defence.
Sam Docherty
Game-high 93 per cent disposal efficiency
Sam Docherty did his All-Australian chances no harm with another brilliant performance. Despite 11 of the Crows’ 16 goals coming from Carlton’s turnovers, Docherty – who had 27 disposals - could hold his head high as one of the few Blues who regularly hit targets.
Dennis Armfield
Equal career-best four goals
Whenever the Crows looked like kicking away in the first half, Dennis Armfield came to the Blues’ rescue. The excitement machine took just 40 minutes to equal his career-best tally of four goals, with all his majors coming from beyond 50m. Armfield, who missed the past two rounds with a ruptured testicle, has now recorded 10 goals from his past four outings.
Patrick Cripps
Game-high 12 clearances
Patrick Cripps again battled manfully for the Blues, but as coach Brendon Bolton mentioned in his post-match press conference, Carlton was caught “relying on too few” against Adelaide. The star youngster had a game-high 12 clearances – a whopping 34 per cent of Carlton’s overall tally.
Simon White
Game-high four intercept marks
Simon White stood tall in a Carlton defence which was put under the pump, finding himself in the right positions to record a game-high four intercept marks. He also had nine intercepts, just one behind team leader Sam Docherty.
