OVERVIEW
In his first year at the Blues, Carlton rookie Brad Walsh impressed at VFL level, slotting into the Northern Blues team with ease.
The ball magnet had such a standout season for Northern he won its best and fairest, taking home the Laurie Hill Trophy. This accomplishment made him the youngest winner in over a decade, as well as being the inaugural first-year winner since Northern’s alignment with Carlton.

Walsh’s consistent form in the VFL earned him a senior debut in Round 16 against Fremantle. Meanwhile in Round 22 against GWS, Walsh kicked his first goal in the AFL, while also having three clearances and five contested possessions.

“Personally I just want to get a lot fitter. Even just getting a taste of AFL as the sub, it’s a massive step up in aerobic fitness and speed.
I’d just like to get that little bit quicker and faster and hopefully I’ll be able to consistently get a few games at AFL level under my belt.”

SEASON HIGHLIGHT
Brad Walsh’s consistent form is displayed clearly on the stats sheets. In every game this year for the Northern Blues he never dropped below 18 disposals per game.
