Carlton’s No.1 national draftee of 2013 Patrick Cripps will complete his senior debut against Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday, in one of four inclusions to the team which capitulated to Essendon there.
The club’s 2012 John Nicholls Medallist Heath Scotland has also been named, together with Levi Casboult and Kane Lucas, after match committee reacted savagely to last Sunday night’s 81-point debacle.
Four players have felt the wrath of the Carlton selectors’, with Jarrad Waite, Jeff Garlett, Simon White and Tom Bell all omitted.
Cripps turned in a best-on-ground display with 34 disposals (17 contested) eight inside-50s, six clearances, five tackles and a goal as the Northern Blues reined in Williamstown at Visy Park - on a day in which Casboult also hauled in 12 marks
Recruited to the club from East Fremantle with selection No.13 overall, Cripps has been named ruck-rover for the Melbourne match. Casboult, meanwhile, has been pencilled in for centre half-forward, with Scotland and Lucas (who as sub fared well in the second half of the Richmond contest) named on interchange.
Scotland now prepares for his 265th senior game (212th with Carlton) in this his 16th season of League football.
