Multicultural Carlton will come alive at Princes Park, with the Global Village Multicultural Festival taking place this weekend.
More than 30 communities and 45 businesses will come together to celebrate Melbourne’s rich culture, in what’s being touted as one of the largest multicultural festivals in Australia.
The event is being held Saturday and Sunday in Carlton North, right next to Ikon Park – the home of the Blues.
You’ll be able to try cuisines from more than 70 nations, walk through market stalls or just relax in the expansive beer garden – where there’ll be plenty of international beer to try!
The festival, which runs from 10am until 10pm, also offers plenty of activities for families, with kids rides, folk dancing and live music.
Carlton has a rich multicultural history, with past and present players hailing from many backgrounds including Italian, Greek, Latvian, Dutch and Indian.
In Round 19, Carlton and Collingwood played in the showpiece game of Multicultural Round, alongside the AFL’s first-ever ‘Many Cultures, One Game’ festival at Yarra Park.
On the back of that success, a big turnout is again expected this weekend, with Princes Park set to be transformed into a sea of colour.
