Carlton captain Marc Murphy has been ruled out for the remaining two rounds this season after dislocating his shoulder in the win over the Demons.
Murphy appears set to undergo shoulder surgery next week, which will allow him to recover in time for the start of the pre-season.
Levi Casboult and Kristian Jaksch have also been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Jaksch will spend the next month in a moonboot after hurting his ankle in the weekend's game, while Casboult didn't play after being a late withdrawal.
Head of Football Andrew McKay says Casboult is still recovering from a knee injury he suffered in Round 19 against Collingwood.
"We thought he (Casboult) would be OK against Melbourne but after training on Saturday he pulled up a bit sore, so he was withdrawn from the game," McKay said.
"He saw a specialist again this week and the specialist has ruled him out for the rest of the season. Certainly no surgery required – he'll continue his rehab – but is unable to play the next two games."
Meanwhile Dennis Armfield will be tested at training this week as he continues his recovery from a broken arm.
Michael Jamison (stiff neck) and Matthew Kreuzer (hamstring cramp) will both be available to play after leaving the ground injured in the final quarter of Sunday's game.
