RECOMMITTED to Carlton until at least the end of 2021, emerging forward Harry McKay is excited by what the future holds at Ikon Park.
It was announced that McKay had signed a two-year contract extension with the Blues, well before a ball had been bounced in the 2019 season.
Speaking to media yesterday, McKay said he was thrilled to sign on at a club he loves.
“I’m really happy to re-sign, I love the Club. My management did a good job to make it all happen really quickly and the Club was great,” McKay said.

“I can’t wait for next year.”
Partaking in his fourth pre-season, McKay joins Charlie Curnow (2023) and Jacob Weitering (2021) as members of his draft class who have committed to Carlton’s future.
While McKay said his football journey didn’t mirror that of his counterparts, he said it was important to have perspective in what’s “hopefully a 10-year career or longer”.
“My path is a bit different to a few of the other boys I got drafted with, but it’s all part of the journey,” he said.
“The first couple of years, I had a lot of injuries and struggled to get continuity with my body.
“It was a good learning curve, being in the VFL, working hard and learning the ropes. When I got my chance in the AFL side, I was able to put the things I learned together.”
With 15 career games under his belt for 24 goals, McKay has used his exciting string of performances at the end of 2018 as a source of determination for the pre-season.
"Stay out of my way, or you'll pay. Listen to what I say."

And with some new teammates to operate alongside him up forward, he’s excited by what the collective can achieve.
“Mitch [McGovern] is going to be a really good player for us. Hopefully we can play three talls along with Charlie and myself, as well as with a couple of additions like ‘Fas’ who can be really exciting,” he said.
“We haven’t put a ceiling on what we can do… There’s no point because you never know. Each week we just try and get better each week.”
