David Teague on the move
David Teague has accepted a position with the West Coast Eagles to further develop his coaching career
Teague has combined the role of a Development Coach at Carlton with the senior coaching position of the Northern Bullants for the last three seasons. During this time he has taken the Northern Bullants to successive VFL Grand Finals.
“David has played a very important role in the development of Carlton’s young players in both his roles over the last three seasons, including as a playing coach for Bullants in 2008. The fact he has guided the Bullants into the last two Grand Finals is a testament to his coaching ability,” said General Manager Football Operations, Steven Icke.
“We wish David well for his future and appreciate his decision to continue his development in a new environment,” added Icke.
Teague joined Carlton from North Melbourne after the 2003 season and won the John Nicholls Medal, Carlton Best & Fairest in his first year with the Blues in 2004. He played 50 games for Carlton for an AFL total of 83 before retiring at the end of the 2007 season.
“I will always be grateful to the Carlton Football Club for the opportunity they have given me both as a player and a coach, I have enjoyed my last seven years at Carlton,” said Teague.
“It is always difficult to make a decision to leave when you have been involved for a long period but this is an important decision for my development. I wish to thank everyone at the Carlton Football Club and in particular the Northern Bullants who have provided me with wonderful support in my last three years.
”This is an exciting opportunity for me and I am looking forward to working with John Worsfold and the West Coast coaching team.”
