There was no shortage of contributors for Carlton in its win over Fremantle at Domain Stadium, but which players had the most impressive stats?
Carlton Media picks its top-five player stats from Round 5:
Ciaran Byrne
Game-high four contested marks
Young Irish defender Ciaran Byrne had his best game yet for the Blues, gathering 19 disposals - many of them hard-earned. Despite heading into the game with just three senior games under his belt, the 21-year-old's ability to read the play was outstanding. On numerous occasions, Byrne knew where to position himself at the drop of the ball to record a game-high four contested marks - three more than any other Blue.
Jacob Weitering
Team-high 91 per cent disposal efficiency
Blues supporters are becoming accustomed to breathing a sigh of relief when the ball is in Jacob Weitering's hands. The composed 18-year-old continues to impress with his elite distribution, using the ball better than any other Blue and giving Carlton clean rebound out of defence in the win over Fremantle.
Patrick Cripps
Game-high nine clearances, 20 contested possessions
Patrick Cripps was once again an everpresent in the stoppages for the Blues against Fremantle, topping the stats sheet for clearances and contested possessions. The reigning club champion won the contested possession count comfortably too, surging ahead of next best Lachie Neale (15) and Sam Kerridge (11).
Sam Rowe
Kept Matthew Pavlich goalless
Stopper Sam Rowe produced a mighty effort to keep Matthew Pavlich, Fremantle's key target up forward, goalless. Rowe's ability to mark tightly and win the share of his one-on-one contests played a big part in Fremantle kicking just nine goals on its home deck.
Kade Simpson
Game-high three goal assists
It was a complete performance from vice-captain Kade Simpson, who stood tall in defence but did plenty of damage at the other end to record a game-high three goal assists. The 31-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down, racking up 30 possessions against Fremantle to boost his average to 27 a game this season.
