The Northern Blues went into their first bye of 2016 with a 2-5 record, after a triumph over suburban rival Coburg in Round 7.
With the state league bye coming last weekend as Victoria travelled to take on South Australia, there have been some standout performances for Northern to start the season.
An array of injuries has seen the Blues blood 42 different players over the opening seven weeks, including 18 players who have pulled on the jumper for the first time (12 VFL debuts).
Six players have played every game this season, with five of those being Carlton-listed players including American rookie Matthew Korcheck.
The big American goes BANG! Congrats to rookie @MKorcheck_48 on his first goal for @NBluesFC. #BoundByBluehttps://t.co/S6pW3VQT7f

The solitary Northern man to play every game is surprise packet Hisham Kerbatieh (No.1 in inside 50s, equal No.1 for tackles), who has shown gradual improvement since his debut against Footscray.
Overlooked for state selection this weekend, Tom Wilson has been the Blues’ most consistent, averaging 22 disposals, six clearances, five tackles and five inside 50s in the opening month before suffering a serious concussion against the Casey Scorpions.
A four-goal performance in his last outing saw Kristian Jaksch overtake Liam Jones to be outright leader of the club goalkicking, while Jason Tutt’s 24 kicks against the Lions was a competition-high for Round 7.
Jaksch is in five categories where he features in the top handful of total stats, while Dillon Viojo-Rainbow - who, like Jaksch, has played in every VFL game - features in three.
