Some time ago, and with the assistance of the AFL and supporting statistician Stephen Williamson, a team of Carlton senior players, dubbed the “International XVIII” was named. The team comprised a starting 18 plus healthy interchange of six more players known to have been born overseas.

To that interchange can now be added a seventh and eighth – Zach Tuohy’s Irish-born contemporaries County Louth’s Ciaran Byrne and Cork’s Ciaran Sheehan.
