Carlton defender Ciaran Byrne has been placed on the Club’s long-term injury list, after rupturing his ACL on Saturday night against Collingwood.
The season-ending injury will unfortunately see the Irishman sidelined for 12 months.
Having played 11 games this year Byrne was fast becoming a vital part of Carlton’s defence, so there’s no doubt he’ll be sorely missed.
In the Club’s Bioglan Injury Update, Head of Football Andrew McKay says Bryne will have surgery in the coming weeks, before starting his rehab.
A rookie player is yet to be upgraded to Carlton’s senior list.
