The Carlton Football Club began the first leg of its journey under senior coach Brendon Bolton in 2016.

After notching up seven wins for the season – three more than last year – the Blues ended up finishing 14^th on the ladder.

OVERVIEW

For the second time in three years, Bryce Gibbs ran out for every game in a season.

With fellow midfielder Marc Murphy injured for the second half of the year, Gibbs stepped up in the middle and led from the front – arguably having his career-best season.

Averaging nearly 27 disposals for the entire year, Gibbs finished the season ranked first at the Blues for AFL Fantasy points, third for disposals and third for kicks.

In a testament to his durability, the 27-year-old became the third youngest Carlton player to reach 200 games. Gibbs reached the milestone in Round 14 against GWS.

“Now that I am starting to get a little older, realising that I am more at the end of my career than the start, you need to start making every day count at the club because it doesn’t last forever. We only have a short time in the game to get the most out of it.”

SEASON HIGHLIGHT

The midfielder pushed himself so hard in the win against Geelong he threw up on the field after the game. With Murphy off injured, Gibbs helped carry the midfield, notching up 34 disposals, including nine clearances, seven tackles and kicking two goals.
