Nothing could stop Carlton supporters tuning in to watch their beloved Blues this season – but it’s not where you may think.
If Bluebaggers couldn’t turn on the TV, they were turning to their phones to watch Carlton live in action.
According to new data from Telstra, the Blues were the most popular team on the AFL app this year, with an average audience of 34,000 viewers per match.
The most watched game on the app in 2016 was Carlton’s Round 5 clash with Fremantle at Domain Stadium. It was the Blues’ first win of the season and the first under new coach Brendon Bolton. Stats show 56,153 people tuned in via Telstra AFL app, with a peak audience of 27,655 viewers.
Carlton’s Round 10 match against Geelong also topped another stat, with viewers tuning in for the longest amount of time. That upset caused by the Blues saw a total of 2.14 million minutes watched – a staggering number!
