Four Carlton youngsters will return from injury amid eight inclusions to the Bertocchi 23 ahead of their Round 5 VFL clash with the second-placed Casey Scorpions.

The 27-man squad, to be cut down on Sunday prior to the match at Casey Fields, has 14 Carlton-listed players, including a young Blue playing his first game in almost a month.

Blaine Boekhorst headlines the inclusions, making his return from a calf injury after last featuring in Carlton’s clash against the Gold Coast Suns four weeks ago.

Dylan Buckley will play after recovering from a calf strain while Billy Gowers and Clem Smith make their respective returns from brief injury layoffs: Jason Tutt also comes into the team after being held over as an emergency last week.

Nick Graham comes into the Northern Blues starting midfield for his first VFL game in almost 12 months after making way from the AFL side.

Despite suffering a concussion in the first quarter of the agonising nine-point loss to Collingwood, Michael Jamison has been named at full back for this Sunday’s game.

There could also be another Northern Blues debut with Bailey Jordan coming into the squad via the extended bench, as has Chris McCabe for potentially his second VFL game.

Tyler Roos will be the 23rd man for the second consecutive week, while Ben Casley will also play his second consecutive match after looking the team’s most dangerous forward in his Northern debut last Saturday.

Cameron Wood will again be supported by Daniel Gorringe and potentially Matthew Korcheck, while Matthew Dick, Jayden Foster, Kristian Jaksch and Dillon Viojo-Rainbow round out the Carlton-listed players in the squad.

Brent Bransgrove is unavailable for selection as is Ashlin Brown, who was suspended for one week after accepting a rough conduct charge from the game against the Pies.

Andrejs Everitt also comes out of the team from last week’s match through AFL selection, while Andrew Gallucci will also miss.

For Casey, Chris Dawes will make a return from a long injury layoff, but Melbourne young gun Angus Brayshaw comes out of last week’s team after suffering a concussion.

Jack Trengove will play for the Scorpions for the fifth consecutive week as he continues his comeback, having averaged 26 disposals from his last three VFL games.

The match begins from 2pm on Sunday at Casey Fields, with the clash to be broadcast on Casey Radio’s coverage.
