Carlton Football Club is delighted to officially launch the partnership between Hyundai and its AFLW team.
Earlier today, Carlton welcomed 19 new female players at the inaugural NAB AFL Women’s Draft, and now, Hyundai has expanded its major partnership of the Carlton Football Club to become a co-major partner of the Blues’ AFLW program.
Initially making a commitment as the team’s co-major partner earlier this year, in the event the Club was afforded an AFLW licence, CEO Steven Trigg thanked Hyundai for their ongoing support of the Club.
“Hyundai has been a wonderful long-term partner of the Carlton Football Club and they have recognised our genuine approach to women’s football,” Trigg said.
“They have been prepared from the start to back our club’s development of the women’s game and there is no doubt the partnership with a global brand like Hyundai will help our club build a strong and successful AFLW program.
“We thank Hyundai for their continued support of the Carlton Football Club as we enter an exciting new era in Australian sport.”
Scott Grant and Gavin Donaldson represent Hyundai as they sign on as co-major partners of the Blues' AFLW team.
Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Australia Scott Grant said the organisation was delighted to be a co-major partner of the Blues’ inaugural AFL Women’s side.
“At Hyundai, we are thrilled to be aligned with Carlton’s inaugural women’s team and to extend our partnership with the club even further,” Grant said.
“Carlton and Hyundai have had a strong partnership for 15 years and to be involved in the club’s groundbreaking women’s team is something we feel privileged to be part of. It is an exciting era in Australian sport.”
Hyundai has expanded the partnership to support the female talent pathway in the northern corridor of Melbourne, which includes the introduction of a Female Next Generation Academy.
Hyundai will appear on the front of the Blues’ AFLW guernsey, and will receive branding on the media backdrop and on all training and match day apparel
The sponsorship news follows the signings of marquee players Darcy Vescio and Brianna Davey, priority pick Lauren Arnell as well as rookies Nat Exon and Kate Shierlaw, and the full coaching panel including senior coach Damien Keeping.
Carlton is among eight clubs to have a women’s team with Adelaide Collingwood, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Fremantle, Brisbane and Greater Western Sydney also competing in the inaugural season, which kicks off in February 2017.
