Carlton ruckman Matthew Kreuzer has suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee during the Club’s two-point victory over Port Adelaide on Sunday.
The ruckman sustained the injury during the second quarter but played out the match.
Scans today have revealed the meniscal damage in his left knee. Kreuzer will undergo surgery this week and will be sidelined for approximately three to four weeks.
Head of Football Andrew McKay said it was disappointing to lose Kreuzer following his significant contribution to the Club’s victory on Sunday.
“There was a level of awareness as to the extent of the injury sustained by Matthew during that second quarter, however there was no risk of further injury by him going back on the field,” McKay said.
“It is a real reflection on Matthew’s character that he was able to endure and contribute so much to the win.
“We look forward to Matthew resuming training in the next couple of weeks and then returning to the team soon after."
